A native of Shenyang, China, Tingting Zhang holds Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northwestern University Bienen School of Music. While attending Northwestern, she has taught piano lessons to music major and non-major students, the Keyboard Skills classes to undergraduate students, as well as private and group piano lessons at Northwestern University Music Academy.

After moving to San Diego, CA in 2012, Dr. Zhang established her own piano studio. Since then, her students have won top prizes in local, regional, and international competitions, including the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music, the Steinway Virtual Piano Competition, the Helen B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition, the Music Teachers’ Association of California Piano Concerto Solo Competition, the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, the MTAC San Diego Chopin Festival, the MTAC San Diego Sonata Contest, and the San Diego Chinese Piano Competition.

Always passionate to share her knowledge and experience in teaching and playing, Dr. Zhang has been invited to present lectures and workshops at national and international conferences, including the College Music Society International Conference, the College Music Society National Conference, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers Conference, the Illinois State Music Teachers’ Association Annual Conference, etc.

As an avid performer, Dr. Zhang has given numerous performances as a recitalist, soloist, and chamber musician. She has performed at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, the Banff International Keyboard Festival in Canada, the Preston Bradley Hall at Chicago Cultural Center, and so on. Her mentors include Dr. Sylvia Wang, Dr. Marcia Bosits, and Prof. Julian Martin.
